What is the difference between serum and plasma?Overall, serum and plasma refer to the liquid remaining after blood cells are separated. Serum refers to the liquid after the blood has been clotted, and in the case of plasma, it refers to the liquid that does not clot after adding an anticoagulant.
-
What are the difference in EDTA, Heparin, and Sodium Citrate? All of them are categorized as anticoagulant. NanoEntek recommend that you use the appropriate anticoagulant for each item and apply it to the product. The type of anticoagulant can be identified by the color of the tube top. (Tube colors may vary between manufacturers.)
-
What are the precautions?Caution is required as different results may be obtained in the following situations: • Contaminated cartridges • Injected cartridge is abandoned over 15 minutes • Sample does not develop, but leave in “sample well” • Sample is touched with bare hands or clothes after the sample is injected • Cartridge is left in the ambient temperature over 15 minutes as opened or exposed to the deformation factors (sunlight, heat, and moisture) • Cartridge (and the components) were stored at abnormal temperature in a long term or suspected exposed in during the shipment • Expired cartridge • Damaged cartridge's barcorde
-
What is the best environments to install the FREND?Avoid areas where contaminants (dust, blood samples, etc.) exist. Wipe out before testing. Avoid places with the high humidity and direct sun exposure.
-
What is code chip? Why is it necessary?Code chip is a device designed to generate and store a calibration curve whenever a new LOT is manufactured. Variation between Lots can be prevented through calibration, and the user does not need to perform separate calibration at all. Please, register the code chip in the FREND before using the device.
-
What is QC cartridge? When do I need to use it?QC cartridge is a device designed to perform quality checks such as laser power level, laser alignment and calculation ratio in the device. You can check the status of the product using the QC code chip and QC cartridge, and the result displays on the screen. It is recommended to use the system check through the QC cartridge every day

-
I have a new box. What should I do first?Check all the contents are enclosed. Take out the codechip and install it before doing a test.
-
How to use the pipette?Reverse pipetting is recommended when loading samples into cartridges when using the FREND. Compared to the conventional pipetting, it is possible to inject an accurate volume and prevents the generation of air bubbles. NanoEntek recommends to use the provided pipette which is enclosed with the FREND device.
-
How can I load the sample in the pipette?Make sure that the pipette contains the correct volume when transferring samples using the pipette.
-
Is there a way to check the cartridge sample flow? You can check the cartridge sample flow completion by looking at the backside of the cartridge.
-
Can I re-read the used cartridge?Yes. Results can be obtainedwithin 20 minutes of sample injection. However, we do not recommend it. Please use a new cartridge.
-
What is the sample loading volume? The proper volume for the FREND is 35μL. The error range is ±5μL, but it is not recommended to arbitrarily load or remove the loaded sample.
-
When and how to use the blocking reagent?
-
What is the reference range for each item?

Canceling the AP machinePress the next button more than 7 seconds. It will automatically cancel the procedure.
-
How to fix the AP dropping error? There are three options that you can check before contacting to NanoEntek. (1) Pipette setting is not 35μL. The incorrect volume will cause the loading issue on pretreatment tube. (2) Please load the sample at the bottom of pretreatment tube. Less volume of sample will be loaded, if the sample remains on the tube wall. (3) This is when the device does not operate normally due to contaminants attached to the AP sensor. In this case, cleaning the AP sensor is necessary.
